macOS Compatibility

Compatibility layer Rating Notes
CrossOver Perfect Plays really good without much latency, there are only some freezes sometimes when new assets are loading[1]
Virtualization
Parallels Playable Playable.[2] Asset loading causes the game to freeze for a very short period (usually less than 1 second) and there are some artefacts in Deimos maps.

CrossOver Support

Support for running Warframe was added in CrossOver 23.6. Quote from release notes: I’m thrilled to announce that we have released CrossOver 23.6 for macOS, Linux and ChromeOS!

CrossOver 23.6 includes support for running Counter-Strike 2 and Warframe through Steam on macOS. No tinkering required: all you need to do is search for the name of the game within CrossOver and click Install. For Warframe, we recommend macOS Sonoma running on a Silicon machine for the best experience.

Paralels 18 Windows 11 Notes

Result= Good.[3] There may be instant fps drops, sometimes (usually less than 1 second) graphic quality medium, screen resolution 1440x900 and windowed. no freeze, no crash, fps: 30-60, playable!

The stuttering issue seems to be caused by no shader caching for the DX11 engine of Warframe, it is only available for the DX12 engine. You can check this in Warframe launcher settings. However, once the shader is built up (first time loading resources, etc.), the game runs smoothly after several missions. Try playing the game a little longer and match with random players/frames to build shader cache a little faster. The smoothness persists between parallels' sessions.[4]

Important Note: At the beginning of the game, sound is bad, after cinematic and arrived to safe house, open "setting" and "sound" and select Audio Output, change "default" to "High Definition Audio Device"
